Thank you for visiting Get Legal, the website that provides expert advice on legal structures and issues such as governance for charities, social enterprises and co-ops. The site is an initiative led by Bates, Wells & Braithwaite, leading lawyers for charities and social enterprises, and supported by NCVO (the National Council for Voluntary Organisations).

The content of the site is currently being updated, and a refreshed version will be available soon. In particular, a new legal form for charities called a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) has just recently been introduced and we are working to include this as an option on the site. In the meantime there is information on the Charity Commission website on CIOs that you may find helpful.
